A little Halloween gift for Zach.
I drew this a while ago to put in his Halloween box of goodies this year.

He's really into vintage 1920's Halloween, so I thought I'd do my take on it. :> Be sure to check out his Kandy Coated Kackles Halloween Volume collection of spooky tracks. :>

This was drawn with prismas and ink brush, the cardboard its drawn on came with a shirt I bought off ebay. XD Pretty good canvas in my opinion.

And here's my Halloween costume for this year!

And good ol' black and white.

I used FX concealer and glue to cover my eyebrows, though I wish I had pierced ears so I could of worn her trademark hoop earrings.

My piece for the "THE ICONOCLASTIC DEAD" Art Show over at Mexico City! The art gallery is taking place at Guru. I decided to do Frida Kahlo in the dia de los muertos style. It is done traditionally with prisma colored markers, ink and gel pen. My piece is up for sale if any one is interested.

I had the pleasure to get my older brothers hand-me-downs as a kid and the Turtle van was one of them. *Along with a ton of these figures* The colors were really fun to play with! And I looooove Master Splinter. :D

It's Zach Day!

Or it was yesterday...

Here is Zach's bday drawing from me! Or at least one of them. I drew his ghoulish stars for his final year thesis! "Blenderstein". Done in prismas and gel pen. His birthday was also the same day as his thesis deadline! He's been hard at work for months getting it done. And let me tell ya, it shows. I couldn't be more proud of him!

I had the pleasure to voice Sydney, "the victim" of the flick as well as doing the backgrounds and some color work. I'll post some up later when I get the a-okay from Zach first. ;3

Bloggerland, why you so dusty? *Brushes off* SO. Hi. I've been having loads of fun lately and my computer has been fixed!!! All I gotta do is get everything back on it! I'm so relieved and excited to start using it again. While I take care of that here's something I've done awhile ago.

I've always wanted to do a tribute for Totoro because its been my favorite Miyazaki movie. I just adore this movie, I love its storytelling, charm and imagination. Its very simple compared to his newer flicks but I love that about it. I can never get tired of watching this movie, if you decide to see it be sure to watch the older 90s dub, not the Dakota Fanning one. The voice acting in the older one can't be beat!

Since I cherish these characters so much I draw them a lot since I'm never pleased with the way I draw them, I'm compiling a bunch of warm up sketches I've done of Totoro and I'll be sure to put them up once I re-install my scanner.

Catching Up!

Hey, bloggerland!
I've finally settled in and I'm enjoying everyday life here in Burbank, California. Its been great hanging out with my roommates, hanging out with old friends and meeting some new friends. I've also been loving the shops and merch around the area. My wallet is suffering big time from this shift. There's just TOO much awesome stuff out here. Speaking of awesome, I got this little gem during my time here so far.

He is an old version 1950's dream pet that I've been dying to get my hands on. And I have to say, he's my favorite. Mine came in such excellent condition and even has the tag. His name is "Las Vegas Al". Just look at those ears!

I can finally catch up with a bit of art here and there and decided to have my first drawing here in Cali be of him since his new home has been on top of my drawing desk.

So yeah...things have been pretty fantastic. My roommates are amazing, just look how they welcomed me into their "cult" with such pretty pretty art!

Nico's version of us! We are such a great looking bunch. Even Steven with boys and girls. Jack can look through your soul with those big ol' eyes.

And here's Jack's awesome portrait. This looks like an album cover don't it? So awesome! I love how everyone in the house has their own distinct style. I have a feeling I'll be drawing this group a looooot. :D

I'M MOVING!

Yeeeeees, I'm moving to the wonderful hill side known as Burbank,California. The cat is finally out of the bag. I've been saving up for this trip for almost a year. It was a crucial experience of work, side jobs and back pains but I've finally accumulated enough to head on out! Working to save up has really affected my time online and my art. Drastically. I've never worked as hard in my life as I did last year.

All I know is, this year away from my art has really taught me a lot of things I'll need to know for the future. I feel so accomplished to have sacrificed my art so that it can shine later down the line. It will all be worth it.

Right now, I'm so exhilarated with so many emotions: nervousness, sadness and of course excitement. This is the life change I needed for awhile now, things will be different but I'm excited for the new.

Now that I'm done saving, I plan to work day and night on my art and update frequently.

I can NOT contain my joy to meet new people, reunite with old friends, have amazing adventures with my new room mates and just have an amazing experience in my new home.

I'm ready Cali! Bring it!

Margot!

WHEE! I have no time for color!
Have a sketch my purple blog, you deserve a new post.

This is Margot, she was supposed to be a recurring character in my Dr. Scoops comic. I've drawn her multiple times in the past but been dying to redesign her as a young child rather than a teenager. She is a very odd girl, who hates to match her outfits, she also loves strawberries. :D

I plan to redesign all my existing characters when I have the time, this is just a sketch I scanned and added some tones.

So yeah, I'll be heading out to New York to visit Zach again this holiday! So you might see some coverage of our festivities which MIGHT include art. Again, I'll get back on track with my personal work and this blog as soon as the new year comes around. Theres a good reason for my absence! I promise!

Lágrimas por los Muertos

Dang, I was too late to post this on the Day of The Dead because I was too busy celebrating it. My bad, its only an hour late. Here is a rushed digi-paint. I knew I wouldn't have the time to do a proper Halloween picture this year but I knew for sure I wanted to get one out for Dia De Los Muertos.

Here is a woman crying for the calveras that represent people she has lost.

At first, she was going to sit on a tombstone with a background but I just didn't have the time to do one.

She was also going to be happy but that would ruin the message.

Also, Zach went to the New York Parade yesterday and took photos and footage of some really cool puppets inspired by Dia De Los Muertos! I wish I could of gone. :3
Its neat how they even had a segment dedicated for it.

Smoking the Souls of the Damned & A Scourchin'Tiger Fan

Hey all! No I'm not dead and yes, there will be a time where I will update art frequently again. I know, I'm just as tired of all these apology posts as you are. I'm still currently saving moolah by doing commission work, plush work and random jobs I can get my hands on. I'm saving up for a very special surprise that I'll be sure to announce sometime in January. Don't worry, its a biggin' and everything will make sense for my current absence. Patience.

Anyway here are two traditional drawings I've done this month to hold you over:

Just a quick marker piece to get me warmed up, its been awhile since I've actually drawn something for myself. I'm a little rusty.

This piece is based off the sad tigers at the Zoo we visited this Summer, they looked so miserable, laying there in a big pile under the shade, trying their hardest to avoid the sun. They need some fans to cool them off.

I'll probably sell this.

A marker drawing for my beloved (Z)achula Monster <3 Who I hope feels better from the flu.

He's been helping me through such a tough time lately.
This is his character Darwin, who I haven't drawn since we started dating. *Bad Tara, bad* I wanted to draw him more devilish and made his Mohawk a bit droopy due to lack of space. He's just chilling, smoking some souls of the damned. Because ya know, who doesn't do that?

Tigre Trinkets at My Door Step!

YeeeeeeeeeeeeAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! I got the coolest package when I came home from New York a while ago, I've just been so busy that I haven't had the time to reveal it.

This magnificent gift came from the wonderful creator team Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua!!!

They decided to surprise me with THESE beauties!

Wow! I can't believe this, in my box which was quite heavy, filled with popcorn to the rim was five smaller white boxes with names on them. Inside those were these AMAZING limited edition El Tigre bobbleheads!

Just look at these! There so well crafted, when I opened them I was just in awe with every reveal. Grandpapi's sombrero bobbles and every single skull dangling from his hat has a painted face!

When they said they were sending me bobble heads, I wasn't expecting to get the full set!

You cannot buy these anywhere. Nickelodeon made them strictly for in-house distribution to cast/crew members when the show was still in production.

I am so touched that you guys would consider me a member of the team and going back to Nick and getting these for me. I'm beyond honored. I still can't believe it. I don't even....*chokes up a little*

Just look at those details! They all look like they were individually painted. The sculpts are so crisp and clean and their so fragile and delicate I didn't even want to take them out of their styrofoam prisons at first. Now, their proudly placed on a safe shelf in my room. *My custom Frida charm I got from my friend from Sweden sits nicely on El Tigre's ear*

They were also kind enough to send me the cast and crew DVD box set of the series! I can watch them any time now, instead of waiting on Nicktoons to play them all. They always play like the same four episodes. >:[

If you've haven't noticed, I love to collect things for my favorite cartoon shows that have a special place in my heart or inspired/influenced me and I dedicate places in my room to them. Ren & Stimpy, Ed, Edd n Eddy, ext. They mean that much more when their from the creators/crew members which I seem to have a lot of.

This is my El Tigre swag I've collected over the years, its been years? Really? Dang.

You both have been so generous and kind to me over the years and I can't thank you enough. You have no idea how much these gifts mean to me and I'll forever treasure them.

Why look who's here!

Hey everyone!
I'm finally back from my summer vacation!
I'm pumped up and ready to work on new projects! I'll be working on some surprises and I have some new art line ups in store. But for now, why don't you check out what I've been doing on my crazy fun filled break with Zach.

First, he came and visited my mom and myself for a week. We had a jammed packed week with something fun to do each day.

We went out to Hollywood connection for mini golf. My mom won us all and we lost a ball in the clam themed hole.

The next day, I had to get my top wisdom teeth out but we scheduled to go to the drive in that night. I asked my dentist if I was allowed to go but suggested I shouldn't and rest. Zach was only going to be here once and they don't have drive-ins in New York so I took a chance.

You can so tell Im drugged up and puffy, we saw Toy Story 3 so I decided to bring a toy with me. Raichu is one of my favorite pokemon and my newest plush.

We ended up having a good time, Im really glad we went. It was such a nice night, we even saw some falling stars.

Caught a great sunset too.

The day after, we went to this really cool themed restaurant called "The Mayan". It has great Mexican food and has rock divers jump into a lagoon while you eat.

We went to the zoo on one of the hottest days of the summer.....I got stuck in that egg.

I really wanted to see the tigers but their area was empty, I was bummed but then we kept walking and they were moved to another area due to the heat. They were really close and had misters around them as they slept.

We saw all the animals at the zoo, even our favorites.....can you find mine in this picture?

Eeeeee....he was right there, I was so excited. I wanted to climb up that tree and pet him. *And steal him.*

We also went to a bunch of diners and hung out while he was here but it was soon time to head out to NY.

The day after we arrived, Zachs family's street was having their annual "Block Party".
Where Zach and I were hired to face paint all the little kiddies for the event.

This was our work booth. Zach painted that sign a few years ago. We gave the kids a twizzler once they were done but had a grunkle guard them while we weren't looking.

Business was booming, we had no idea how many kids we painted. Some even came back for more. Including their cheeks, arms and hands.

The kids were really good and excited about this. I dont know how many kitties, fairies and butterflies I drew that day. All the little girls kept coming to me. It was a nice experience. I think we learned from last year to get things situated.

We worked until dusk where we couldn't even see the kids face. We were rewarded with delicious food and cotton caaaaaaandy. :D

Soon enough, it was time to head out to Florida and drive an hour to see these familar gates. :D I havent been to there since I was six. It was so exciting, everyone was laughing at my reaction when we entered main street. I felt like a little kid.

You cant tell in this picture but it was EXTREMELY hot and humid that day. We were dying of heat but I was too happy to care.

While we were eating, it started storming soooo hard outside. It looked and sounded like a movie. I never heard thunder that loudly before, It scared the daylights out of us. The only thing Zach's grandpa said to bring was some rain panchos but it was so hot and sunny we didnt think we needed them.

The rain stopped and it actually felt good to walk around and it driven people away so waiting in line wasn't bad at all.

It was such a great time, I always cherish every visit.

In Florida, we went to Mt.Dora's canal for an awesome boat ride. We saw tons of birds, turtles and a gator. It was such a beautiful place. We had a great time and our tour guide was really nice.

Again, it was extremely hot and humid in Florida. I was not pleased but enjoyed the scenery.

During the last days there, we chilled out on his grandpa's deck and drove around on his wave runners. We had difficulties with them at first but we did get a few rides out of them.

We had a lot of fun once we got back to NY, hitting the city, visiting Zach's relatives and having great dinners but it was time to head back home. I miss Zach immensely but I know we'll have fun next time we meet.

Zach won this cute Hello Kitty back pack at his local Ben and Jerry's and surprised me with it when he came to visit. Its adorable and has a little pink pancho.

We stopped by a mall in Florida and they had a store selling Hello Kitty merch, I used to have a HK store right by my house in California, seeing this stuff really reminds me of my childhood but my favorite is Pochacco, I think its because he wore purple but he was always my fav. The cute little plush and pin are new.

Look what I found at the Zoo! A little sugar glider keychain! And a cool calavera sticker from the Florida mall.

We looked every where for a sloth item at the zoo's gift shop but couldn't find a thing. Then Zach stumbled upon an animal toy set with this guy! I now have a new pencil holder *my tablet pen wouldnt fit, sadly*

I also have a little side collection of Stitch and found a few additions at Disney! :D

Remember this? Zach's mom's old toy that he gave me? Well, during a visit to a flea market we found this! I can't believe we found my little deers baby!

What are the odds?! Having the mom on one side of the country only to find the baby on the other. I wish I knew what company made these. I have a feeling theres another baby out there.

I also got a bunch of these but more on em' later. As I intend to draw some. C:

Zach and I did some sculpting over at his place. Finished shots are in the works.

Tara Be Rappin' Good!

So I got one of the coolest packages I ever received in the mail yesterday.......

What an awesome thing to get on a rainy day! I still can't believe it. Actually, scratch that, I gotta believe......

This wonderful assortment was from the incredibly awesome and talented Rodney Alan Greenblat! The visual stylist of "Parappa the Rapper"!

I've recently got in touch with him and he's the nicest guy in the world. Just look at that plush! He told me its from a rare promo for the PSP release of the game and this was only distributed in Japan. Hes 10 inches tall and so incredibly well made! Look at that awesome tag with Rodney art!

He also threw in some promo PSP rubber keychains, these were given out in 2008 promoting the PSP release at Comic con. Being there, I've already snagged one but now I got two in the package!

The last thing in the batch is this really cool promo PSP skin and his thank you note from his company. I wish I had a PSP to put this skin on.

This gift means so much, seriously, more than he'll realize. Rodney is a huge inspiration and one of my favorites!

I also sent him this paint up of Parappa, which he enjoyed. I did make some doodles Ive done right after receiving this package but I'll wait to upload them.

I plan to make some original pieces and a tribute for Rodney! So be sure to keep a look out for that in upcoming posts.

Rodney has a wonderful website with a ton of great items, books, games and more! Including signed prints! I'm going to get this one when I have the chance.

Get the games too if you haven't played them yet!

He has also done other design work for Umjammer Lammy. *We look alike right? Same droopy eyes too.* Another great nostalgic game for me.

Besides video game design he pretty much does a bit of everything. Though, being an American artist he is most famous in Japan. Parappa even got his own anime! In case anyone who hasn't heard of him here in the states, Id like to showcase him and let you all get a feel of his work.

He has done multiple childrens books like the one above "Thunder Bunny".

Along with amazing paintings, his work is so lively and innocent. You really have to stop and look to really grasp every detail.

Rodney currently resides in New York, as an abstract painter. He has had many gallery shows around the area. He is truly inspiring and I suggest you all to check out his site: Whimsy Load for more art, galleries, info and he also has an amazing shop full of many of his products and art! Id buy it all if I could! Go check it out!

I do have some BPM sketches I did warming up for the comic but my comp has a few bugs so I'll post those next time.

So yeah, where have I been? I know, I know. My blog has been super dusty and I hate not getting to update it, I've been preoccupied at home, I don't really want to get into it. The good news is, I just recently gotten a break for myself and for my art! More art in the next couple weeks and I bet I'll have fun stuff to post once Zach comes over to visit me. :D Lots of cool stuff to post in due time people, I swear.

Edward Scissorhands-90s Gallery Show Piece

Its that time again.
Another awesome gallery show ran by the peeps over at The Autumn Society have another one cooking. This time, for the tubular 90's. Oh, my childhood, there was so many things to pick from. SO MANY. It was very hard to decide, I did want to do Ren and Stimpy or a bunch of other fun cartoon shows I grew up with or even toys I'd want to take a stab at but seeing the entries thus far made me want to choose something no one else would suspect.

I picked Edward. :P Huh, two Tim Burton posts in a row? How peculiar.

Edward was made smack dab in the beginning of the 90's. It is perhaps one of my all time favorite movies and one of my favorites from Tim Burtons creations. *Tying with Beetlejuice and Nightmare* Its a movie I can watch multiple times but never get tired of. Its always good no matter how many viewings. Its a really nice "out there" fantasy but still a little close to home to make it feel "real". I think this is the only movie to make me teary eyed. <.< I'm not one to cry during movies anyway. This was back when Johnny was a fresh new actor (and before he was Tim Burton's love partner in all his films) and before Ryder's whole clepto incident. Its a very innocent and original movie. It still has its dark tones Burton usually puts in his films but it feels a little distant from his usual stuff. Which I like.

PROGRESS WORK:

Here's my traditional sketch with some ink drawn over it in PS. You can see (sorta) that I was originally going to put Vincents Price's character at the top of the cookie factory cutters but after coloring and adjusting everything, he just didn't fit with the image. It became too cluttered. Which is a shame since I LOVE Vincent Price (fun fact: This was his last role before passing away.) but I'll be sure to post his bust once I finish coloring him. I wish I had more time in general to work on this tribute but I've been swamped. X_X Excuse this piece for being a bit more on the simplistic side.

This whole soundtrack just makes the little girl inside me melt. The Ice Dance scene does the same. I can gush and mush all over this like no other and thats not usually how I act towards love stories. This movie does strange things to me, I guess. I just adore this score and it brings me fond memories of my high school Art class.

Tea Time In Wonderland

This is for a contest going on over at DeviantART, its a contest promoting the DVD release of "Tim Burton's Alice and Wonderland". The contest is called "Picture yourself in Wonderland", you must depict yourself as one of the iconic characters from Tim Burton's version of Alice In Wonderland and everything else will be judged based on that theme, originality and technical skills.

I just adore all adaptions to this story and I'd watch the Disney version non-stop as a kid. *I'll be sure to make a tribute to that version in the future*

So I Alice-ized myself as well, of course Alice. I've always had a connection with this character, shes a day dreamer, innocent, imaginative and bores of reality from time to time yet shes witty, a little distant from her peers but always knows what she wants. Plus, I can think of 5 impossible things every morning. C: Shes just such a fun character in a bunch of different ways you look at her, an explorer, a mental case living in her own mind or a day dreamer, shes still totally likable.

This image took me 3 days to do on and off. One of the longest pieces I've ever done. With over 100 layers of detail. I really wanted to go overboard with this.

I chose the classic tea party scene as its nostalgic and fun all its own. Who didn't dream about participating in a un-birthday tea party? This is just pure imagination and I had fun working on this. I tried to add as many trinkets and fun items from the movie, the scroll, the vile, playing cards to represent the red queen, the key to the door, the sword, and tons more. Can you find them all?

I really enjoyed creating this digital painting and being able to join the fun of these unique and well known characters. I felt like a child again working on this.
This is the first time entering a DeviantART contest and I put a lot of effort into this so if you all would be so kind as to comment, fav and view the image at my DeviantART Id truly appreciate the support!

Here is the traditional sketch this image is based on, as you can see I just draw out random shapes to use as a guideline and once scanned in photoshop draw in the additional shapes and spaces needed. My sketches are very loose as I add all the detail once inking and coloring.

And the Days Go By~

Firstly, I got a package from Zach yesterday. I always love getting packages from him because he always sends them when I least expect it and when I need it most.

In it was this little dear of a deer. It came to me in one piece, the box it was in looked like it was stepped on and thrown down the stairs but no broken pieces or gun shot wounds here. It used to be his moms back when she was little and I had to have it. Its in really great shape and I love vintage toys. He also got me a red day of the dead Mexican made Bracelet. :> You can sorta see it by her feet. He has a green skull bracelet to match.

I sketched this out right after getting my little deer. Sorta experimenting with my sketches.

Here's the actual Deer in question, on my new red wooden shelf I recently gotten. *I had too much nic-knacks. *This shelf is still being fixed as its messy*

Its my take on "El Tigre" done traditionally. I'm looking forward to their package and seeing both Luka's together. Before I sent the plush off I actually had time to embroidery the eyes.

I love my new markers! I love my new markers! I LOVE my new markers. Zach's gift was the first thing I did with them so I couldn't post any of the other drawings I did after it until his Bday was over. Finally, I have a set of my own. Or make that two. :D

Here's something I did for Jorge and Sandra's package I'm making. The Luka Plush is going in it of course, along with a surprise drawing I won't show. Well, until they receive it in the mail! I'm nearly done and then I'll send it off. I love you guys. ;-;

These are our favorite animals but I swapped our favorites with ourselves. Lately, I've been joking that Zach acts like a sloth. lol And I love them and even though, I'm a crocodile, I'm all over that like no ones business. Mmmmhmm.

So love has emerged in this swampy bayou as the tree leaves dance. :3

Hey all! And whats up all you new watchers and visitors? :3 Thanks for coming.

Sorry about my hiatus as of late. I'm going through some gobblety-gook that needs handling but I should have enough time on the side to draw more. Yes, things should get back on track. I have some surprises in store.

This post is an update for whats going down in the future (which I'm looking forward to.)

The drawing above is a new image of myself. The last one was almost a year old. I wanted to draw another pic of me in a dress since I love wearing them but I'm just so accustomed to these boots. Love em'. So, here's one of my few outfits that doesn't revolve around a dress but I still like. <:

Yes, I do posses a sloth backpack. And yes, it is epic.

This image is for my ABOUT section of my blog which I'm currently updating. I still need to work on a couple more images for it to be done. I intend to finish all my tabs soon, I want them to be functional and useful for you all who visit.

Mathematical!

Joseph Game, the guy in charge of The Autumn Society, has recently gotten a job working for Cartoon Network on a new cartoon series called "Adventure Time with Finn and Jake". Members of the AS get to create tribute pieces for the shows release that will be used in an upcoming art book, showcased on the official Aventure Time blog, and hopefully be featured in some type of gallery show.

Here's my piece!

I've seen this pilot a bunch of times since it was made and I downright loved the humor and wigglyness. You can check out the pilot HERE:

This was actually made for a Nickelodeon program called "Random Cartoons!" Finn's name was apparently named after the creator, Pen Ward but I'm guessing he didn't want anyone to own the rights to his name. I'm so glad Cartoon Network picked it up, though.

Here's some PROGRESS shots for ya too. *Shoves in faces*

The sketchy sketch, I already knew what I wanted this to look like before I even started putting things on paper. That's why a lot of the drawing isn't on the sketch yet. The main idea was Finn holding the balance of good and evil in a wiggly sort of way.

Then the inkssssss, which are also fun. Again, I do a lot of detail in photoshop after the ink stage so thats why it looks pretty bare right now. It was so hard just to choose one character because this show has millions upon millions of great characters. Most of them are named and have a purpose too! Crazy. You can't really tell in the final digital picture but I drew a handful of side characters piling up in the background. Most of them from flikr storyboard posts.

I'm really excited to be a part of this tribute book! I've also heard rumors that Frederator (the producers behind Adventure Time)are thinking about making official posters out of all the tributes being submitted. How awesome! Nothing is set in stone but I'd love to see it happen!

I've met Pen during the Adventure time/Flapjack beach party in CA and he was such a fun and nice guy, playing his piano tie and walking to random groups of people to do the same thing. Him and Thurop told me, "If you grow a beard, you automatically get a cartoon series. That includes the ladies." If those are words of true wisdom, I better get on that.

I really wish I could have worked on this show! I had a chance but needed to be in college. Blah. Maybe in the future. Be sure to check out "Adventure Time" this April on Cartoon Network! And be sure to get a taste of some of the other tributes done by AS members over at The Autumn Society!

My fingers are in pain and brutally stabbed, you know what that means?

New plush! New plush! New plush!

This time for the most super macho and ever so lovely Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua!

This is a plushified version of Jorge and Sandra's baby Luka. Here is Jorge's drawing of him I used for the design.

I had to make some alterations because he would NOT sit up if his body was that tiny.

He is made completely out of fleece and thread. I used felted wire for the birds leg, plastic cardboard for the sombreo's shape and he has pinto beans in his bum to keep him balanced. I thought it was appropriate. Hehe. He's approximately 7' inches not including the senior Chapi doppleganger.

I've been planning to do this in MAY last year before Luka was even born! But due to lack of colors of fabric, busyness and random things getting in the way I only had the pattern drawn out for it. :(

I'm really excited to finish this one at last since it was supposed to be my first.
Maybe I'll make an El Tigre one later.

The sombrero.....Jorge is godly when it comes to details but DANG! This is a simple design yet it still killed my hand during the process. I think the sombrero alone took a day to make. I added every tiny detail in the sombrero, the patches of straw all around the brero, all the little dangly dots and stars and everything is hand sewn, including the name. Phew. I admire anyone who has ever made a sombrero, let alone a plushie one.

Maybe I could make a detachable big boy moustache for him.
I hope you guys like it! Hopefully, we can hang out during the summer when I visit!

Super Awesome Overdue Post YEAH!

Agh! I need to really make time for you blog, you're getting a little dusty for my taste. I guess I've been dreading this post since I knew it was going to be a big one, most of this stuff goes way back to xmas. X_X

First things first, my half of the art gifts Zach and I made for our xmas packages. *I actually still have a couple I need to finish but lack the markers* .A.

Let the over-delayed gift giving commence!

First up, Katie's.
Wait, Tara. We already seen this one. I know but now its traditionally colored. :> I'm happy the markers came out just as well as the digital coloring.

I couldn't forget Luke! Him and Katie both love things from the medieval ages. So drawing their kitties, Little Ricky and Luna in that time was a must.

A trading card of me as Frida from Dekay. Oh, god. I love this card. She made me so awesome looking and its giving me thoughts of going blue again. She also got me a pokemon game for my DS that I know I'll surely play on my long plane rides to the big apple.

And this one is from Kali. Its so funny and cute and I love it. Its really nice to see her traditional work up close. Thanks guys! We really loved getting this package. I found frames for them both but my camera died before I can take a snapshot. Just know that their awesome and hanging above my light switch of my bedroom. C:

Aside from all the wonderful drawings I've received I got this from Zach on Christmas day...what could it be? :O

I had no idea what could of been in such a huge box. So seeing THIS was so incredible!

Its a very RARE Oswald the lucky rabbit plush that only released during the time Disney had gotten the rights back for him in 2007. Since then, seeing one of these would be extremely unlikely or expensive but I got him! Being a appreciator of plush he is a treasure.

He's soooo biiiig and fancy too with his suede fur and corduroy shorts. Now I have the Oswald figure and the plush from the same promotional release from 2007. I also received a cute new Betty Boop wallet from Zach's little sister.

Tara's photo time!

We were snowed in on my bday but that didn't bother me much. Hanging out with Tooly and the family on my 21st bday was just as good.

We ended up going to the city a couple days after my Bday and met up with these guys and a really freaky looking Spongebob. I wish we took pictures of that abomination.

We played the slots at Dave and Busters. I was winning!

We also spontaneously went on an hour drive with Zach's little sister and friends to a really fun aquarium.

We spent most of our time at the sting ray petting lagoon. Zach's sister actually petted a small shark!

One of the coolest things we did while I was there was visit Tim Burton's Art exhibit show at MoMa, here's a video of some of the cool things that were displayed yet we COULDN'T take pictures with.

Here's something I could take a picture with. One of the garden pieces from "Edward Scissorhands" Its one of my favorites so I was really excited to have touched the cookie cutter, the costume and take a picture with this. =D If your in New York definitely check this exhibit out.

Two Awesome Packages and Glider Bday!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some really cool packages I got in the mail in the past weeks. I just didn't have my camera to take pics, I'm going to be posting another journal about something I recently got that must be shown later.

But anyway, packages in the mail are like mini-christmas's to me. I always love the feeling when I get one. First up is a package from Emma Sarkela, my friend from Sweden who gave me and Zach an awesome xmas bundle this year.

Here's what she gave me:
*A really cool traditional drawing of me. :> I love the silver.
*Some Swedish chocolate and gummi candies.
I wanted to take pics before I ate them,It was so hard NOT to eat them. Im so happy I can now*
*A happy bunny wrist band. I love how its a pink wristband!

*A nice note and doodle I took off the wrapping on the box of gor and pip.*

the world. Based on my Halloween costume last year.

They look store bought in person and their so tiny! Their probably as big as my thumbnail. I'm afraid to put this on my car keys because I don't want to scratch up the paint job. *Zach got a Max charm from her*

Another gift I received in the mail was a surprise gift from my friend Erin Fitzgerald, The voice behind Nazz/May on Cartoon Networks "Ed, Edd n Eddy".

I had no idea what it was but when I saw that logo I was freaking out.

Since EEnE has officially ended last year Erin thought I'd enjoy a little keepsake from the show. That Id deserve it more than anyone for sticking with the show for so long.

What I got was a trinket only cast and crew members received during a holidays past at the AKA Studios.

It came with a ping pong paddle with the AKA logo on it, a AKA pencil, some AKA stickers and a AKA camera. This was for a special event thrown at the studio one year where they wanted people to smack their butts until they were red, take a picture of said butt and send it off in the envelope attached to the studio where they would feature everyone's bootys on a memorial. Oh those Canadians.Erin advised me NOT to do that in my note.

I am so honored to be the owner of this AKA piece of memorabilia. Erin is such a sweet friend and I've always kept in touch with her even after the shows end. This was so nice of her to do and I still can't get over this kind gesture. She's so super talented, all you voice managers go hire her.

I will proudly frame this up on my wall with my cast and crew signed EnE poster, comic con promo's and my EEnE limited edition statue I got from Comic con last year.

Ratch Custom Plush and What is to come of 2010!

Phew. Goodbye 2009, it was nice knowin' ya.

Hey all!
Its a whole new year and I have tons to post/talk about and a bit of leftovers from 2009. I'm glad we ended it with a bang. More to come about that.

Speaking of leftovers, here's my last plush of 09!

A custom made Ratch plush!

Made as a surprise Christmas gift for Zach.
He is made of a special grey fabric similar to fleece and minky. Sorta in between. He measures to about 10 inches tall and is fully hand stitched. His arms are adjustable and his mouth can open and close. c:

This was a really special plush to make, I wanted to do something different for this one. So, figuring how to make an open mouth plush was a challenge for me but I'm extremely proud of the outcome.

I might put in some wire in the fingers later. I wanted to but didn't have the time. I had to get this one done before I left for NY and keep it a secret all at the same time. I'm glad it was a surprise in the end. :3

The 2 minute sketch I did of what I wanted the plush to look like.

Me starting on the head, I had no idea what I was doing. I was experimenting and if I was going to mess up I would start over and try again. BUT I figured out how to do an open mouth head on the first try. Yay! The head itself took a whole day to construct. Handsewing each one of those long fingers were pretty time consuming too. Ho man. X_X

Hey all, I'm heading out tomorrow morning to spend Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiistmas!!..ahem...with Zach and his family. I have a 7 hour flight, alriiiight *sarcastic thumbs up* and I'm ready for it.

I probably won't update as much but I'll be sure to swing by every now and then.

There's a lot of things to be done once I arrive to the big apple, shopping for the remaining family members, sending friends gifts off, lots and lots of drawing. Making awesome plans for my Birthday on the 20th. We'll probably go into the city for it which I'm really excited for! I'm going to be 21, egh. Adulthood.

We'll be sure to post a buttload of pictures from our winter adventures.

I'll post up some traditional art so this post won't be so wordy.

This is a little gift I've already sent out for my pal from Sweden, Emma. This is her Chinchilla, Pip. She's also getting the Gor plush I currently posted.

During my last hours here at home with my family, we tried to put up our Christmas tree before I left. :> We didn't put up the huge window display/balcony display. We didn't have time. Yes, my mom goes all out for this holiday. Electronic gizmos, clapping devices, ornaments, the works. I'm glad I was able to put this up in time. c: I'm really going to miss my family while I'm away. <3

Our tree is mostly Cartoony theme, we have tons of looney tunes, disney, old retro 50s, 60's and 70's ornaments and a bunch of random trinkets as well. I love our tree.

We went with a white tree for this year. Its very stylish. :>

We keep all the boxes for everything we put up, theres a ginormous pile by the front door. I'm glad I don't have to stay for the clean up jobs. ;)

Everything my mom has in her house is sound activated, so if you clap you die of noise.

Welp, I'm off. I have a long day of flying tomorrow.

Parties, Herny Selick and Plush!

Oh blog, how I missed you. We have some catching up to do.

Sorry for the lack of posts, I was enjoying my Thanksgiving trip to New York.
Alot of awesome ensued thats for sure.

For starters, I finished a new plush!
Custom made for my sweetie Emma, who resides in Sweden. He's been done for awhile now but I had to get my hands on a red dog collar that would fit the little guy.

This is Gor, her character. He's a nuclear pirate bunny.

Gor measures around 11' inches or 17' inches ( including the ears.) Hes mostly hand sewn with the exception of a sewing machine on the head.

I loved working on his little toes and cheek fluff. You can't really tell in these photo's but hes sporting a metal earring on his left ear.

Bunny butt.

People don't realize how big my early plushies are so here's me pre-cuddling Gor before we shipped it off to Sweden.

Its sad to let my first plush go but I know he's going to a good home around the world.

While I was visiting Zach we had a Halloween Leftovers party. With a decked out party room filled with Zach's spooky decorations, homade goodies and treats, leftover halloween costumes and a pinata!

Zach carved a pumpkin for the front door so the guest knew where the party was while I made my homemade traditional pumpkin seeds. :> Mmmmmm

And later, on a rainy day, out of sheer boredom. We decided to make a fort out of blankets, stuffed animals and pillows in his basement. We played video games and ate snacks for hours.

Zach's little brother Alex wasn't allowed. ( Even though he thought of the idea to build one in the first place.)

We also went shopping for friends which wasn't easy, now its onto family members!

We attempted to go to a local mall at midnight for "Black Friday" but after being there for 10 minutes and seeing how crazy and out of control the place was, we left.
It wasn't worth the trouble and none of us wanted to get trampled on.
Someone fainted and was getting assistance on our way out of the mall. It was that bad.

And finally, the day after my plane ride to the big apple we went to SVA and went to an awesome live Henry Selick interview.

It was really cool, they showed footage I didn't see from the comic con panel they had in July.

The next day Henry called me asking if we'd like to go to breakfast before he went off to talk to a producer. Having to rush on trains, subways and walk about 10 blocks, we made it. I did feel bad for being late but there were so many obstacles trying to prevent us from having breakfast with him lol

Lucky for us, he waited patiently for our arrival. We ate the best eggs and french toast we ever had and chatted about his new projects, secrets and stories on the set of Coraline and just catching up on things. He even paid for our meals. He was so sweet, really kind and really fun to make conversation with. It was so nice of him to make some time to have breakfast with us since we couldn't during the Con due to busyness. We plan to do it again soon. I'm looking forward to working with Henry someday.

So all and all a very delightful trip. I'm trying to get a ton of work I had to put off during my two weeks now. I gotta get as much as I can done before I head back in a couple weeks but I'll be sure to post again soon!

Dr. Scoops Plush!

Yay! I designed a Dr. Scoops plush! I'm considering on making these for my online store that is currently in the works. I think I'll make 5-10 custom plush and if they sell I'll continue to make them. He does take awhile to construct, so don't be whipping out your wallet just yet. I'll be sure to post a link once I have all 10 plush done. I've already designed a couple plush I might consider selling.

So here's the first Scoops plush! (5th plush made)
He is around 7 and a half inches. The smallest plushie I've made. It was a little different but I thought people would like these more if they were smaller, I'd save fabric and beable to make more. He's entirely hand stitched and made of fleece.
I made him "chibi" as its called.

I'm lovin' this plush and his liddle cigar. Lets just hope I don't get sick of him before I can make 10 more.

The scruff going over his belt was a pain but it looks so cute. I can pull it up and see his belt.

I think he's just the right size, not too big and not too small. He can sit on my hand. Its size is probably why the details were so tedious to work with.

Aww you can see his little devilish spikes on the top, when I recreate the plush again they will be more visible.

Since I've just made this plush this morning theres no progress shots of him. :(
I think I will take pics of the next Scoops I make or better yet, do a livestream of me sewing one.

I do have the sketch thumbs I made before starting on him,
though.

Oh right, I forgot. I can draw. I've been so busy with comic work and sewing I havent had the time to draw for myself. So heres a fanart doodle of "Stitch" I did a week or two ago.

Hes one of my favorite Disney characters. I'm fond of alien Stitch more if you couldn't tell.

My finger is sore and I'm full of bread.

Boy, these past couple days have been really busy, Halloween on the 31st, my mom's birthday on the 1st and then dia de los Muertos on the 2nd.

Things are settling down though but I know things will kick back up again very soon.

I've been pacing my work very well, along with plush work. I've finished another plush with flying colors!

For the awesome and ever so talented Gabe Swarr.

He's made of fleece, he's about 10 and a half inches (with ears) hes completely hand sewn and is super cuddly soft. He took about a couple days to make.

I had to redo his shape twice, the first time he just didn't come out right and the second he was too small.

His pattern was a little difficult to figure out since his shape is so unique but I'm happy with the turn out. The ears have wire in them to stand up straight.

The most time consuming part of this plush was indeed the pants and details, I had to sew around his whole WIDE body over and over to make sure all the material was placed on his person tight enough.

Kimbo has someone to chill out with now!

PROGRESS SHOTS

Here's a shot of Pants right when I got started, my mom walked in and asked if I was making a pillow. I might as well have been because this plush is so squishy and soft! It felt like I was stuffing the body for an eternity, I used half of my stuffing for this little guy. ( I still have 2 more bags though lol)

Here's the mess Big Pants left after completion. I think this plush used the most material so far. Probably ties with Tigerbuttah. Big Pants, use your magical pants to clean up this mess and put this spare scrap in its box!

I'm really happy with this plush.

Day of the Dead festivies.

Here's some pictures from our family day of the dead gathering, this one was at my Tia's mom's house. It was so pretty.

She made tons of food for our past family members and ourselves. we ate so much.

We came home with a huge bowl of apples and marigolds.

We'll be making sugar skulls during the "Halloween Leftovers Party" Zach and I are throwing so more pictures of that soon.

Buuuh, I always feel so fat during these next three months but I'm enjoying it. Bring it on, Thanksgiving.

Halloween Leftovers and Tigerbuttah Plush!

Aaww, I was a day late to post. I was out partying all night that I didn't have time to show everyone my costume but I guess one day can't hurt.

This is the best picture taken at a party I attended. I'll be sure to take more during the "Halloween Leftovers" party Zach and I are throwing soon.

Surprise!
I chose Frida Suarez from the Nick cartoon "El Tigre" (Sorry, Coraliners, her outfit was a little too pricey to whip up and I couldn't find all her items on time. I'll probably be her or Boop next year. ;)

The goggles are spray painted red and black, the suspenders were the only item I needed to complete the outfit but the last store I checked at the mall had them and I know I'm probably going to wear them with outfits in the future.
I love love LOVE my boots, I wear them all the time and it was really fun rockin' out blue hair. I never wore a skirt so short before though haha.

Halloween this year was super fun and I'm already thinking about next Halloween plans. Hope you dig it!

PLUSHIE BONUS!

Whoo! I finished my second plush today!

Custom made for my dear friend Becky Who runs the the coolest painted daily comics around. This is her buttah paws, Tigerbuttah. This is part of a Christmas gift Zach and I are putting together for her and Frank. ^^

He's made of fleece, he's about 13 inches tall and is super cuddly and soft. He was a bit complex to build. His body is hand sewn along with the ears, the textured lines on the ears were all hand sewn in to make that effect and there is a total of 20 stripes on his body. (Some aren't visible once I sewn on the head and tail.) All hand sewn. X_X Ugh, my finger was dying. He took about 3 days to make on and off. ( I took a lot of breaks though.) I love him, he sits on his little bum, his tongue is fun to play with and I think he was my most complex plush to date. I'm very proud of him.

Here's the head and pieces of ear fabric I cut out. The head was barely taking shape. Then I started pining down all the facial features so I could hand sew them on.

His head took the most time to construct. His ears aren't even attached yet in this picture.

This is heading to New Zealand to live with Becky and Frank.

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

Finally! This costume took ages to make! Seriously. Custom made for Zach this Halloween. Sewn by me ( and with loads of help from my mom.)

Its made of fur fleece. Its very thick and soft. When I was modeling it i started to get hot, so Zach will be really warm while hes off on his rumpus Halloween night. The whiskers are bended fabric wire and it buttons up the tummy like the real deal. The tail is bushy fur fleece.
( I love how I pose in front of my gliders cage, its just so model prop worthy.)

When I started on this, the costume was nothing much but a huge roll of fleece and 4 buttons. I had to cut, resize, try it on, pin it to my body and then repeat to get it how I wanted.

(A forest started to grow in my room.)

I rewatched trailers and observed screencaps from the film since I modeled this costume on the movie version of "Max" rather than the book. I'm not cool though, since I only own pink converse. Zach custom made the crown and staff. So I'm sure he'll take some pictures of the full costume once he gets it.

I'm as wild as they come! AwwoooOoOOooooo!!!

I want to be Carol for Halloween sometime. Maybe next year.

This costume is costumed made for Zach and Zach alone. It goes up my crotch since my hips are higher than his lol so It should fit him perfectly.

Tara Fun Fact......

I CAN SEW!!!
Whoa! Mind boggling, I know.

I've always used to sew but I'd only work on clothes, fleece blankets or pouches for my gliders, never really thought of creating things in plushie form.

Until this year... while in California, sometime in June my mom purchased a huge HUGE box of fleece fabric, she kept all the patterned fleece while she gave me colors among colors of base colored fleece. Then I started brain storming. Wondering if I could actually make SOMETHING out of this material. I made a test plush and WHAM, I was hooked.

So to reveal my long awaited secret since June, I give you my 3rd plush made (the others will be shown soon) Kimbo.

For my good pal, Ricky Garduno, Thursday dumm for Dummcomics.com.

He's completely hand stitched, can sit, hes 26 inches (including the ears) and when he sits hes 18 inches. He took about 6 hours to make on and off. Hes very huggable and soft.

For being such a simple design he was tough to make, I had to recreate the sausage ears three times and his head shape once.

I'm kinda sad that I'm giving him away lol

You can kinda see my Stitch plush behind him to sorta give you a good view on size comparison.

This is when I was barely starting to cut out the pieces. (You also get a hint on who I'm doing next in this shot) Shhhhh.

I want to make some plushes for friends first (i'm so nice) and then later create some custom plushies of my original characters.

He was just a head for the longest time.

I'm sending this your way Ricky along with a xmas package Zach and I are making. ^^

Now that my secret is out, I will be making tons of plush dolls in the future. I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

Werewolf's Halloween Night Gallery Piece

Yay! Halloween is almost here! I'm very excited for the holiday and I've been smitten by the spirit of it. Werewolf's have always been my favorite classic monster and I always loved the idea of monsters trick-or-treating with us norms. :>

This is my piece for an exclusive gallery event called "Trick-Art-Treat" for The Autumn Society.

This week the Autumn Society will celebrate Halloween with a limited two day Art Show, only at Brave New Worlds. There will be artwork, candy, and more.
It starts Friday, October 30th (6-8pm)
and
Saturday October 31st (5pm-8pm).

Cloudy with a chance of...STUFF.

Quick (but not really) speed paint because I liked this movie and Sabree wanted me to draw them in my stylings.
The humor was good, the animation was great, I especially loved the run cycles and how the girl went through blunders yet cute wild poses. You should go see it.

BONUS Doodle:
A little quick paint drawing of my albino dog Moki, since my gliders seem to be hoggin' all the lovin's lately on my blog.

He's a mix between Maltese and poodle, he's born on the same day as me, his fur feels like a cat rather than a dog, he's extremely difficult to have his picture taken. Due to being albino he always gets red eye ALWAYS and his fur comes out so white by the flash he almost looks ghostly. And don't let his looks fool you, hes going to be 13 this year. Whoa, nelly! He also makes the weirdest noises and burps you'll ever hear. They sound so unnatural for a dog.

Siiigh, I have awesome pets.

Suggies, Gallery Show and Blog Update!

Whoo! Hey everybody!

So I guess your wondering why I've updated 3 new blog posts labeled coming soon? Well, I revamped my blog! New sections, new info and new friend tabs! You have no idea how time consuming and frustrating the friend tabs took but all and all they look nice. I like getting to look at all my lovely friends art when I come on my page. I hope you'll enjoy them too.

Anyway, kinda busy busy in a good way, I keep getting bombarded with new commission jobs. I'll update when I can. But enjoy this while I work.

True story, this happens to me every so often and they do it when I least expect it. I think I'm used to it now,they just love my hair. When I have time, I'll film them and post vids on youtube.

Speaking of youtube, The Autumn Society's "Dia De Los Muertos Art Gallery Show" premiered two days ago!
My piece "La Visita" is up and also buyable if anyone is interested.

Tara resides in a snowy desert known as Utah (For the time being.) Taking care of her mom, (perhaps one of her biggest heroes. Who has punched death in the face and came back from the dead to tell the tale.) Her twin sister (which Tara states: Shes taller than me but thats okay because I'm a minute older.) Her childhood pet Moki, her thirteen year old albino Maltese poodle who never leaves her feet. And her two beloved sugar gliders, Jippo and Oswald who keep her company during her late nights of drawing and work.

Tara has been drawing since she was teeny tiny and just hasn't quit, Now, shes a conservative young girl who is ecstatic to draw for a living. Self taught she has won many awards and had the pleasure to work and meet some of her childhood heroes with her artwork. She tries her best to branch out and experiment with new mediums, such as markers, clay and sewing.

Tara loves having fun and being a kid at heart whenever she gets the chance.

But when it comes to her art she can become very serious and likes getting the job done while having fun in the process. She hopes she can do this for years to come and have many amazing experiences along the way.

Tara has an obsession with many things, heres a few of her favorites. The color purple, wearing dresses, acting girly, being dorky, sloths, drawing, marshmallow peeps, monsters, singing when no one is looking, collecting, toys, plush, watching classic cartoons, sewing, music from the 1950s, video games, experimenting with new mediums, nature, being inspired, likes knowing she is left handed, comic books, getting out, laughing, giving gifts, meeting new people and working on art projects.

Hillbilly Kitty Jamboree!

I inked this back in June, before I was getting ready for comic con. I wanted to draw a picture for all the awesome people I was meeting up with/seeing again. Unfortunately, I didn't finish them all in time. (I'll tackle them when I have spare time)

This one is for Katie Rice, the mastermind behind the blog Funny Cute and co-creator of Dumm Comic's "Skadi". I had dinner with her along with all the other dummies, she was flipping through one of my sketch books and I forgot this was in there! She almost landed on the page. Phew!

These are her kitties Luna and Little Ricky, as hillbillies of course. ( Katie has a fascination on the hillbilly culture )
I failed to upload this before her bday which was a few days ago. Oh wells.

I'll give you the original once I get my hands on some prisma markers. For now, its digitally colored.

Big Mario Kart Collab-Start Your Engines

Almost a year ago I was invited to take part in this collaboration project that my good friend Dirk was throwing.

Its a collaboration done with over 40 of the finest artists you can find on DeviantART. Independent and people who already work in the industry came forth for the project from all over the world.

Based on Mario Kart, a series of go-kart-style racing video games developed by Nintendo as a series of spin-offs from its trademark Mario series of platformer adventure-style video games. Each chosen artist had the privilege to choose a driver and do their own rendition of the character.

Birdo is one of my favorite Nintendo characters, when I can't play as Bowser, Im Birdo. I finished this a couple days after he started the project back last October, so its really refreshing to be able to upload it.

After months of preparation it is finally viewable for the public!

Its an absolute MUST to full view the original picture and check out everyone's interpretations of each driver. Their all fantastic!

-La Visita- Dia De Los Muertos Art Gallery Show

Whoo! New art!

I thought about uploading this Nov. 2nd but I'd probably forget about it. My piece for the up and coming The Autumn Society, "Day of the Dead" Gallery Show, it takes place in Philadelphia.

And for those of you who don't know Dia De Los Muertos (or All Souls' Day) is a Mexican holiday on Nov. 2nd where families get together and celebrate their deceased loved ones using sugar skulls (calaveras) marigolds and foods and drinks that the dearly departed favored. They visit the graves of their family members and might even catch a glimpse of their spirits.

I had this idea since last year and I really wanted to follow up to it for this gallery show. Coming up with a good layout was by far the hardest for this piece but I'm pleased with it.

Papi is coming to visit his nina and join the celebration of the holiday. I really wanted to show off the true meaning of the holiday with this.

PROGRESS WORK:
This was the final sketch, I had to redraw this image 3 times before i liked it.

And me starting the basic inks for the image.

Hi hi!

These are way overdue but I've been living it up in NY and visiting Florida. Disney world, swamp boat rides, wave runners and a whole lot of food. Here's a few marker drawings I did for some awesome chaps I had the pleasure to hang out with and meet.

SDCC Happy Fun!

Wow, its already been 3 weeks since my last post? 3 fun filled weeks of adventure, sillyness and amazing people. It was another great year, here's a little taste of what has happened during my trip!

The SLG booth was aweseome this year! We sold a lot of issues along with prints.

It was fun to meet up with fans, friends and draw sketches.

The Strange Eggs Crew, Steve, Myself, Chris and Jhonen. The book was a hit.
I felt pretty accomplished getting to sign for a book this year.

After my signings I did a lot of hanging out!

First stop....

It was so much fun to hang out with fans of the show, friends, people who worked on the show and of course finally meeting Thurop and Pen!

We went to the Coraline Panel, which was incredible and very inspiring. Henry S. was so great. It was nice to finally meet him, we've been counting the days for a meeting. He was so happy to see me that he hugged me and lifted me right off the ground. I only wish we had a little more time to take pictures and have dinner. He had to head back Oregon, sadly.

Henry called me later and lead me to the Necca booth where they had gorgeous official Puppets from the movie. Their selling them for 6,000 bux a pop! If only I had some etra scratch.

While I was there, I met up with some of the finest Coraliners who were waiting for me. They told me some great stories, I got to pet Martin's cute little dog in a bag and their going to send me some trinkets from the movie! :D Thanks for leading me to them Henry!

During most of our trip we had the pleasure to meet some of our online friends and pen pals! Which is the best part of the con in my opinion. We hung out with them all during most of the trip too!

Ricky, you were amazing. Thanks so much for the pancake breakfast I'm still amazed that you would do that for us and I love my book! We are so happy we got to chill with you and shoot the breeze. We will do it again soon.

Their friend got the biggest ice cream cone I ever seen.

Later, Nico was an angel to drive us to Burbank where we had dinner with some of the dummies who couldnt make it to the con.

We also chilled at Kali and Nico's crib and meet their little kitty who grew while they were away on their trip.

She kept playing with the bows on my shoes.

We collected so much swag this year, I was surprised we fit everything in our suitcase.

What I loved most were the beautiful drawings I recieved.

Thurop drew this right at the Aswesome beach party.

Kali drew us! Look how cutesy she made Zach.

While at Katie and Lukes they surprised us with Skadi posters and the sketches Katie drew of me a few months back!

The con went well with flying colors, It was the best one yet. It lead me to so many amazing people, new and old. I cant wait to go back and create new memorable moments. I know I'll remember the ones from this year forever. Siiiigh. Comic con.

San Diego Comic Con Booth # and Signing Times!

I just received confirmation that my booth at San Diego Comic con 2009 is booth # 1815, The Slave Labor Graphics podiums should tip you off. Our table will be awesome.

I'll be doing sketches (free of course)
and I have cards and prints for my future books I'll be selling.
The prints will come in these cool comic book holders.
I'll also be signing for "Strange Eggs: Jump The Shark!". I'll be signing with Chris Reilly, Steve Ahlquist and Jhonen Vasquez who also contributed for the book.

I contributed a story, colored the back cover and drew
the front cover (I didn't color it, mind you.)

Holy Cow!

Is it me or is time going by so rapidly?
Comic con San Diego is right around the corner. Sheesh! I've been so busy busy busy trying to get things together for it. Comic work, prints I'll be selling, gifts, hotels, flights, all that jazz. Due to the hustling and bustling of the summer event I haven't really had the time to draw or update. But I have a TON of stuff to post later on when I get a chance to take a breather from all this hectic mess. In July, I will most likely be posting a entry telling you my booth number and times I will be signing.

Anyway, enough about that work hoo haw. Check this out!

One of my awesome long life friends, Jeff has done some amazing things with my artwork. Usually involving high tech gear and electronics. A few months ago he recently gotten a new Iphone and wanted it to be different from everyone else. So what does he do? He gets a custom printing of my artwork, right on the back! It looks like its part of the case!

Even the inside was custom to match the exterior. With a duplicate image for the desktop background, all of his menu buttons were replaced with Hello Kitty heads, when it would start up it would meow and if you received a text it would make a spray can noise! How trippy cool is that? I actually have 2 people getting the gasmask girl image as a tattoo. Just waiting on pics to show you all!

After this one had to retire due to bugs and complications. He decided to get a new one....only to get a new current art piece for the back! *Which you can see above* Since its brand new I'm not sure what type of cool features he'll put on the phone. Maybe stop sign buttons, bird calls and the alphabet song. Either way, I thought this was way cool and felt like I had to share. I wish I wasn't so old fashioned about all these new gizmos. Then I can do cool stuff like this but alas theres too many to keep up with. :S

Welp, I better get back to work. More posts very soon, along with art. I promise.

And to make sure I'm not jipping ya off without any art this post, heres some more of my DeviantART 100 ten dollar sketches I've been doing. I'm almost to the half way point! These are tons of fun to do in between work related material.

Sullengrey Pinup: Sacrifice

So, last year I met the ever so awesome Drew Rausch during my first year behind the Slave Labor Graphics table at Comic con San Diego. He helped me ease up to the job and helped me sell prints. Hopefully, I'll be more out going this year for sure, mmmaybe.

Aferward, he asked me to do a pinup for his next book. "Sullengrey:Sacrifice" I couldn't say no. This was made sometime in October of last year I think, I was just waiting for the right moment to share.

Each character was equally fun to draw.

Some Rabbits Have All The Luck

My piece for the up and coming The Autumn Society "Golden Age of Comics and Animation" Gallery show.

I sorta gave a hint on my last post on who I was going to do.
I couldn't help it. I had to pick him. Maybe next time Boop. I have a feeling everyone will do her.

Before their was Mickey....there was Oswald.
Oswald was created by Walt Disney for a distribution deal. Debuting on September 17, 1927 in "Trolley Troubles", the plucky rabbit "acted up"- And audiences went wild. Clever, impulsive, fast-moving Oswald was a huge box office hit, but Walt's high hopes for the hare were squelched when his producer cut him out of the production schedule and lured several of his animators away. The momentary setback ultimately spurred Walt to a much greater victory. Oswald is a sassy stylish blast from the past- with a future that looks bright.

So my tribute to Oswald. Cheers, ya floppy eared varmint.

Hiya! Its been a while since I last posted. Been busy, in a good way I suppose. Lots of ups and downs but I'm holding up. To make up for my absence here's a super lengthy post for you all.

What else has been going on? Hmmmm....

Oh yes! Zach sent me a wonderful package and it has just arrived. It was to cheer me up due to dealing with loads and loads of personal events that have happened in the past couple months. I don't want to get into it but it has gotten me in a really chaotic and stressful state. This package is a great picker upper for me. (Im better now, mind you)

The Oswald figure is amazing! Its a limited edition HEAVY figure,
its about 9' tall and came in a really fancy
10" x 7" box. Look! It even has golden cloth!

Just the box is a treat. Great images and tidbits
on the little bugger. This came straight from the
Disney store in CA and has a stamp of authenticity on
the bottom of the base of the figure.

Oswald is one of my favorites, I never knew he even had
merchandise. So getting him is just really amazing.
I love him, Zach!

This is why I named my suggie, Oswald.
They're both sassy egotistical grumps.

Speaking of suggies, mine just got a brand
new cage set! *Spoils them* Now I won't feel
so bad about them being in the cage and having
nothing to do. Check it!

They went CRAZY for their new home. I would of taken
pictures of them playing on it but they were being butts

Pah Pah Pah-Leeease, Not Patty Cake

My piece for the up and coming The Autumn Society 80s POP! Gallery show.

I was in such a tough bind deciding on what to pick for my piece. Considering so much grade A awesomeness came from that decade. I pondered for days until I decided to go with the classic "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". I grew up with him over the years and I've been a big fan ever since. Plus, it came out on the year I was born! Bonus points.

I picked the "patty cake" scene. Just the thought of cartoon's exploding after drinking alcohol was a funny idea, hell, the idea of "patty cake" known to cartoons point of view is a funny idea. The scene was so chaotic and emotional. Totally fun to draw, I had to get every detail from the scene in this.

Tipsy Tiny Kitten Teeth

This is 1 of 3 gifts for Becky that I'll be giving her once we meet again sometime this summer.

It felt great inking traditionally for a change and Zach's brown papered sketchbook drawings inspired me to use mine. It was gathering dust and needed to be used.

This is Mewsli and his pet, Pinwheel. Becky and Franks awesome daily webcomic Tiny Kitten Teeth you should all be bookmarking it now.

Sorry, Becky. I made him look like a drunk when hes probably a light weight when it comes to the bubbles.

I'll probably re-upload this once I get my hands on some prisma markers. For now, its digitally colored.

Yup Yup, been wanting to do this since I got myself an account. I have a bit of knowledge for CSS and HTML but I was still a little confused about using it here, I wanted to wait a little longer until I had more wits about the topic. I'll be adding some new buttons, links and maybe some friend picture links for my close buddies.

Glider Speed Paint

Speed paint before work.
These are my boys!
Jippo and Oswald.
Their crawling on my head as we speak.

Jippo is the happy go lucky younger brother, he always glides to the front of the cage whenever I come near. He never barks or complains and he gets along with anyone who holds him.

Oswald is....my lovable problem child. He is very fidgety, barks for attention, steals Jippo's treats and crabs when I hold his pouch. Plus hes fat, hes an alpha glider. BUT I still love him and he has his moments.

First time drawing them but I have a feeling they'll change every time I attempt to draw them.

Jippo loves blueberries and melon while Oswald loves peas and corn but they both love their yogies. Yes yes.

All Dummed Out

.....Hehe not really, I can never get tired of Dumm but sadly my week has come to an end. ( Sheds tear )

I had a blast creating the strips. Each one was so much fun to plan out, color and draw for.

Zach made it twice as fun as I never experienced the art of combined collaborations. Drawing a character while he drew the other yet still making them interact was so much fun and it sorta blows your mind when you see the final product. Both collaborated strips came out delightfully well. Maybe this is something the head dummies can play with for future surprises and events? *hint hint*

Even though my week has ended I've compiled some behind the scene work and line art for each day. (Give you a little taste on how I make the comics strips)

Monday-Big Pants Mouse

This strip was originally completed last year! And was the only strip I colored with my brown toned textures I usually add to my art. It felt like Big Pants was suitable for this type of coloring style.

Tuesday-Through the Porthole

I had TOO much fun working on this strip. I gave it more of an animated look and I had to follow up to Katie and Luke's beautiful take on the colored world of TTPH.
Short and simple but still makes you love the cap'n none the less.

Wednesday-Skadi

Skadi was amazing to work on considering it was my weeks collab with Zach. He drew Dieasoid while I drew pretty pretty skadi, the backgrounds and colored. As you can see in this image I mapped out simple sketches of Dieasoid. Giving Zach an idea what I wanted him to draw. We did the same process for the Earthward strip for his week.
I was very very happy coloring this. Heeeeee....

Thursday-1930 Nightmare Theatre

I actually had two layouts for this strip but being the messy computer owner I am, I misplaced the first version of the strip in my many many file folders. To later find it AFTER the second version of the strip was completed. Oh well, I didn't do too much on the first take but it's pretty similar in the storyline and you can see how I map out the panels. Very storyboard-ish and fast.

Here's the second one, with my padded gray tones still left over my line art. (btw This one was actually the first strip I came up with.) Working with this type of coloring style is very exciting. If you can believe working with blacks, grays and whites to be exciting. It is. Had to add some grayish color tones in there with a hint of red.

And its so hilarious how people noticed my little tidbits of Koko the klown and Mr. Bucket. Who at the time, was revisited when someone linked me the commercial and told me to add it in the nephews playroom. (I had the Mr. Bucket game when i was a young'n. <_< )

Friday- Earthward-Ho!

This one, I had a smile on my face throughout working on this strip. I love coloring. Its my favorite most of the time and this was a delight. I gave it more of a painting type of feel. I had to make it epic and spooky yet playful, fun and cute all at the same time and thats what I'm all about.

Plus, Fiz's dorky yet awesomely drawn mouth expressions have always been one of my favorite things for Fred's strip so doing my take on those was a bonus. 200+

I hope you enjoy these and enjoyed my week!

I'd really like to thank everyone who gave me the heartwarming and inspirational comments on the site and for just checking it out! I didn't expect so many visitors!

Also, Id like to give a big thanks to the head dummies for allowing me to do this, again, I am so very privileged to have done this. You all have become such super awesome friends. I can't believe its been a whole year since we've discussed about me guest spotting on the site. I'm so eager to meet you all this coming year and I have some *stuff* to give ya too. *grin* I know will all be livin' it up in the near future and I'm looking forward to it. Really I am <3

Being a girly from the comic book industry where I have someone telling me what to draw and add. This was a great little escape, even though it's still comic book related, It felt more like animation practice. If that makes sense. It gets me inspired and excited for the future when I eventually do enter that field.

Man, someone hire me already so I can get my buzz! haha!

Guest Spot in Lenore Issue 14!

Hey all! Sorry for the lack of posting, I've been busy with work and other things. It doesn't mean I won't post here. They will just take a little longer than usual. Thats all. Don't fret though, I have a lot of new goodies to show you in the future, along with other cool work! Keep an eye out. Thanks everyone who has visited, commented and just stopped by and said hello! Roman Dirge randomly threw a guest spot contest the past weekend and needed it the following Monday. I decided to give it a shot since the deadline was so close. I only had an hour to create the image since I had other projects. I didn't hear a response for a few days, thinking he probably got a close friend to take the spot but then he responded with a "I liked yours the best out of the 73 entries sent to me, congrats and great job. You beat a few of my friends who entered".

PS:......Taxidermy is my favorite.

Stop Signs and Alphabets

Aaaaah, I did something for myself for a change.
It felt so good.
I had a total art block for about 3 days and when I finally put my pencil on paper this came out randomly as I went along. I didn't want to lose my mojo so I finished it all in one night, start to finish. I really like it.

Swedish Gifts

Back in 2008 around Christmas time I sent off a Christmas package filled with little trinkets to my sweet friend Emma, who resides from Sweden. These are the doodles I've put inside the box. Their done on brown paper, brush tip markers and white gel pen.

The first one is a collaboration between Zach and I. I drew the purply girl with the fuzzed out ears and he drew the lanky lizard like guy on the left. It was really fun and I'm glad her gifts got to her safely! Thanks Emma! I loved the ones you sent me!

Flapjack Valentine's Day Contest!

I just watched the Valentine's day special of Flapjack,unaware of seeing the special fan-made song at the end of the episode. I thought that was airing on Saturday.
And behold!
My entry was there!
To my surprise it wasn't even the piece I did specifically for the contest

but

the first drawing of flapjack I did for fun!
I had to touch up this drawing since mine didn't meet up to the
size restrictions. So it looks like this on the special.

( I think its so crazy that I added those hearts coming from the head,
to see the episode reveal Flapjack sprouting them from the same place. Haha!)

It truly is!
I just got my liddle sugar glider "Jippo" a couple weeks ago.

His name originated from the infamous classics of Betty Boop.

Heres the episode his name is based off of!

I also own his brother...

His name is officially Oswald.
Named after Oswald the Lucky Rabbit,
the very first Mickey Mouse.
Here's one of my favorite Oswald shorts.

I'll post vids and pictures once they get a little
more familiar with me and their new home. You'll definitely see art of them in the future.

Their already getting used to my home and love to play with me.
Their about 2 years old and classic grey.
They are both so tame and I can not wait to have adventures with them!

What a great way to start off a new year with something entirely new!!! This is my first ever custom Munny!
Zach and I painted a figure during my trip to NY. It was so much fun, I really want to do more.

I really wanted to use my Sloth from this image for the project, just look up in my header to see him.

It was odd trying to place everything just right since hes originally lanky and pudgy but I think it came out pretty fine but he still looks a little pink. Hes the same colors as the actual image in IRL. He comes complete with 3 claws, tie, hat, blush and a algae and mushroom covered bottom. The last pic is of both our munnys saying goodbye to each other. Ain't they cute?

Cat Cleaners

It's 4:30am and I'm updating. LalalalaaalaIhavenofreetimeintheday.

My half of an art trade with my lovely friend and oh so talented Becky!
She's a sweetheart and a fantastic artist. Seriously, shes too amazing for words.

She wanted cats groomin each others suit jackets!
I went with all the sizes of cat if thats ok. :3 Tiger, bobcat, house cat, tabby cat, alley cat and a snazzy serval.

Sorry for the delay, this died on me a couple times and Im a dork who doesn't save after every 10 minutes.
I had so much fun with this, tigers are in my top 3 favorite animals.

The second piece to my "Dia De Los Muertos" collection. I wish I got this up in time but its already the 3rd. I was too busy celebrating the holiday to post. I made this one extra special just because I only got in 2 out of the 6 during the month. Think I should finish the last 4?

Here's a close-up.

I had an awesome dia de los muertos.
We just had a family gathering, made sugar skulls, pan de muerto
and other yummy goodies. An altar for our loved ones and told tons
of great stories about our past relatives.

Day of the Dead

I wanted to do this collection to experiment with my heritage and culture. My family celebrates this holiday, sometimes I go to Mexico for it with relatives that live there but lately I just celebrate it at home. Its a lot of fun! And it feels like I get two Halloweens each year. I just love the fall.

Each piece will be inspired by the holiday and I'll do them digitally and traditionally. I really want to experiment. Hopefully, I can get in 6 pieces by the end of the month...or maybe more if Im lucky.

A day of the dead without sugar skulls is like a Charms Blow Pop without the bubble gum inside. It's a must-have.
So yummy yummy!

Aaaaand a Meowth doodle I did last night at 3 in the morning. Its probably why its a little messy. I kinda like the messy look. Meowth is one of my favorites, hes like the Daffy duck of the Pokemon world. Always getting pushed aside by that rodent.

I'll probably add this with a huge pokemon thing I'm doing.

Anyway, I'll be starting up my Halloween collection this month and I just got picked up for another project down at SLG! I'm so excited. Hopefully, It'll come out before Comic con next year. Here's hoping. More details about that later.

I've been drawing a lot of gifts lately. Theres nothing wrong with that. Check them out!

The first is a gift for Eric Bauza who does the voice for White Pantera on the cartoon show "El Tigre". I had a blast doing this one.

The second was a Birthday present for the very talented and sweet Katie Rice who has other amazing bday art showcased on her blog at Funny Cute Go check it ou!

The third one is for my dear friend Erin Fitzgerald, who also does voice acting but for the cartoon show "Ed, Edd n Eddy" as Nazz/May. Shes just so bubbly and bright I just had to make her bday present the same way. Love ya Erin! <3

Anywho, this October I will be creating a Halloween collection, some digital paintings others traditional paintings. I haven't started yet but I'm really excited to. I'm also thinking of submitting more of my sketchbook work on this site. I'll get around to that as soon as I can. For now, more Adora.
